This is a very specific assessment designed to assess for the presence of ADHD symptoms (e.g., hyperactivity, inattention). It includes: an interview with parents and child, completion of rating scales by parents and teachers, and psychometric testing, which usually includes a brief intelligence and academic screening, computerized assessment of attention and impulse control, and tests of executive functions (organization, problem solving, planning, and reasoning, etc.).
The goal of the assessment process is to systematically identify and conceptualize an individual’s level of functioning. Our assessment process involves gathering information from multiple sources including child, parent, and school/work. The process is personalized to the questions one would like answered. For example, questions that can be answered through an assessment include: “Why does my child have such trouble completing assignments in school?” or “Why does my child throw tantrums? An assessment will provide a diagnostic profile in order to identifying appropriate interventions and accommodations. We will help identify what type of assessment will be most appropriate for you, and guide you through the process.
